| Blogmas Day 4 – Let’s Talk Tea – Carslake Christmas Teas – Review |

Hey there Teacups! I’m back today with another Christmas centric Let’s Talk Tea Post. This time around I’m talking all about a company by the name of Carslake Tea and their 2017 Christmas teas.

When Carslake Tea very kindly offered to send me their full 2017 Christmas collection to try out you all know there was no way on earth I could have said no. As you all know Christmas is by far my favourite of all the holidays, so when it comes teas inspired by the best aspects of it there is no way I could have miss out on having the chance to try them. ( I could drink Christmas tea all year round – trouble is they never see the end of December.)Carslake Tea’s 2017 Christmas collection consists of four blends : Christmas Cookie ( A Fruit & Herbal Tisane) , Christmas Green Tea, Christmas Black Tea and a Christmas Rooibos. One of the main aspects I love about this Christmas collection is that their really is something for everyone. It’s really nice to see that everyone no matter what they want has been catered to.

When these teas arrived this first thing I noticed was the amazing smells that came from the package, they were all in small air tight bags but that didn’t stop the delicious smells from filling my room and making me even more excited for Christmas that I already was. I didn’t hold back at all on trying these teas, I had pretty much tried them all by the time the day they arrived was over. I steeped them all one after the other and I had absolutely no regrets. I highly doubt that these teas will see the end of December, if fact they probably won’t make it past the first week.

Christmas Black Tea

”A splendid blend of black tea with all the tastes and smells associated with Christmas. With hints of orange, cloves, cinnamon and a hint of rum, it’s a superb winter warmer.” – Carslake Tea

You all know just how much I love Black tea and how much I love Christmas so I’m sure that you can only imagine just how much I ended up loving this blend. This blend was really surprising to me it was incredibly reminiscent of a chai but just a little bit lighter. This reminded me of the Christmas breakfast blend that T2 released this year. It’s a perfect black tea for those wanting to get into chai but wanting to start on a much lighter side of the spectrum. What I love the most about this blend as that despite all of the ingredients it has in it the tea completely the forefront flavour wise. You do get some slightly nutty notes from the almonds and in the aftertaste you get just a little bit of a citrusy kick from the orange peel. I couldn’t taste the hibiscus really which I’m glad about because you all know I’m not much of a fan of it. Overall this is a really nice blend and I can e see myself enjoying this a lot over this month. It’s not one of my favourite Christmas teas but it’s certainly up there.

Overall Teacup Rating : 4/5

Ingredients : Black tea (China), orange peel, clove buds, almonds, hibiscus, cornflower petals, sunflower petals, flavourings (Vegan Friendly | Suitable For Those With Nut Allergies)

Christmas Green Tea

”Chinese Green tea blended with sugar ice crystals, pink pepper, chocolate chips, and clove buds, and scented with almond, marzipan, and rum flavouring.” – Carslake Tea

I’ve been enjoying green tea a lot recently, I mean not that I didn’t enjoy it in the first place I’ve been a little bit more open to trying deferent varieties and getting to grips with how to brew it in the best possible ways. ( I think I have teatourist to thank for introducing me to so many new teas of this year .)The greatest thing about this blend is how naturally sweet it is, normally when I have green tea I have it with a little honey but I really don’t think that it’s needed with this. With the natural sweetness though you also get an underlying kick from the pink pepper which took me by surprise to be honest. Obviously I knew it was in there but I wasn’t expecting it to be so prominent. This is a tea that would be great both iced and hot it’s equally as refreshing both ways. I can’t definitely see myself starting the rest of my December mornings with this.

Overall Teacup Rating 4/5

Ingredients: Green tea (china), sugar, rice flour, rapeseed oil, tragacanth, pink pepper, chocolate chips (sugar, cocoa, soya lecithin), clove buds, flavourings (including almond) ( Vegetarian Friendly | Not Suitable For Those With Nut Allergies )

Christmas Cookie – Tisane

”This is a blend of Hibiscus, rosehip, apple Pieces, orange peels and flavour. The liquor is bright red with a beautiful bouquet and a superb sweet and fruity flavour that simply tastes of everything that’s Christmas” – Carslake Tea

As you all know I’m not a fan of hibiscus at all so I was really scared to actually try this blend. Sadly I have to say I think this is the only one of the bunch that Carslake sent that I didn’t like (that’s not because of the quality of the product it’s purely down to personal taste) I just couldn’t take my mind or the taste buds off the hibiscus. I did re-visit this blend and take the hibiscus out and actually enjoyed it quite a bit (iced of course)

Overall Teacup Rating : 2/5

Ingredients: Hibiscus, rosehip shells, apple, orange peel, cinnamon flavouring, ginger flavouring, clove oil (Vegan Friendly | Suitable For Those With Nut Allergies)

Christmas Rooibos

A festive alternative to the usual Rooibos, offering all the non-caffeine benefits, but with the aroma and flavour of Christmas. – Carslake Teas

This blend was definitely the most calming of the bunch but it still packs a festive punch. I’ve been drinking this one at bedtime since it arrived here and I think it’s helped me sleep a little bit better. (Which of course I’m incredibly thankful for) The cinnamon is definitely the prominent note but that’s not a bad thing at all. (I really think that having lots of different chai’s recently has helped me learn to love cinnamon)

Overall Teacup Rating: 3 1/2 / 5

Ingredients : Rooibos, Cinnamon, Blackberry leaves, Orange blossom, Flavouring, Safflower petals, Clove buds, Cardamom seeds & Ginger extract (Vegan Friendly | Suitable For Those With Nut Allergies)
