Let’s Talk Tea – Wudong Tea – Da Wu Ye – 2017 Dancong Spring Oolong Review.

Hey There Teacups! I’m back today with another Let’s Talk Tea post, this time around it’s all about Da Wu Ye  2017 Dancong Spring Oolong from a company by the name of Wudong Tea.

One thing I love about Wudong Tea is how much information they provide about each and every one of their teas. When it comes to featuring teas  / reviewing teas on my blog I like to be able to provide you all with as much information as possible and Wudong Tea made this very easy for me to do. Not many tea companies out there do that so it was really quite refreshing to see Wudong Tea do this.

Da Wu Ye is from the Fenghuang mountain around 600 meters above sea level. It’s a light roasted Dancong famous for its light orchid aroma. It gets it’s name from it big, shiny, dark tea leaves. It can be steeped up to nine times with it’s tastes and aromas standing strong.

Harvest Time: Spring 2017 | Tea Master: Song Lin | Picking Standard: Two – Three Half Matured Tea Leaves

The orchid I mentioned earlier note is predominant , but there’s also a really unexpected  butteryness that reminds me a lot  of Walkers shortbread and a very light fruity note of peach. It  has a pleasant sweetness that is moderate but not overpowering. I wouldn’t add any kind of sweetener to this at all it is naturally sweet enough and does not need it. I managed to get 9 steeps out of this! 9 full steeps with the same 5g of leaves is amazing. I definitely wouldn’t take it any further than 9 though.  Steeps 6 and 7 were my favourite of them all both the floral and the sweet notes really mellowed out and they worked perfectly together. The First and second steeps were mostly floral and not much else so it was nice to see more complex notes come through in further steeps.

Overall Teacup Rating: 5/5 (In short that means I absolutely loved this tea)
