Let’s Talk Tea – The Tea Spot – Meditative Mind | Review

Hey There Teacups! It’s time again for another Let’s Talk Tea post, this time around it features Meditative Mind from The Tea Spot. Having followed the Tea Spot on Instagram for quite a while and thinking that all of their blends sounded amazing, I couldn’t have been more excited when they said they wanted to collaborate with me and send me a could of teas to review and introduce you all too. This post is the first post of three featuring The Tea Spot the other two will be going up 1 per month until for the next two months (one in April and one in May)If  you want a little sneak speak of the other two blends they very kindly sent head over to my Instagram I posted a video of them all not too long ago.

I chose to try meditative mind first as when this package arrived I was on a green tea craze and the idea of a blend that combined that with white tea and florals sounded absolutely perfect to me and I jumped straight into steeping this blend. I immediately put some into my infuser jug to cold brew and from there I steeped it hot and enjoyed it to my hearts content. The reason I decided to steep this both hot and cold is because the ingredients list just sounded perfect for both and it wanted to see which way of steeping worked the best.

Ingredients: White Tea, Jasmine Pearl Green Tea, Rose Buds & Petals

Dry – Strong Floral – Fresh – Sweet – Slightly Vegetal

A blend of pure Chinese white tea, rosebuds and jasmine pearl green tea creates an experience of aromatherapy that sharpens the mind and arouses the senses. The exotic floral scent of night–blooming Jasmine is uplifting and soothing, and is used as an anti-depressant in herbal medicine. Rosebuds are used to ease nervous tension and stress, and have a calming effect on the mind. This combination works together to enhance the light, subtle flavour of the white tea leaves. This tea brews into a golden liquor with a very soothing fragrance, and is perfect before, during, or after a stressful day. The jasmine and rose were so strong in the dry leaves that they were pretty much the only things I could pick out. Every part of me just hoped that everything would be much better balanced when it came to tasting it for the first time. (Spoiler alert it was so much better balanced in the flavour and as usual I was worrying for no reason – teas always prove me wrong)

Tea Tasting Notes

It’s a very floral blend but the mix of all the different floral notes is delicious and they all pair amazingly with each other. Considering how much of a strong rose aroma there was in the dry leaves I was expecting it to be quite over powering when it came to taste but it was actually rather muted and it worked really well, you’ll all slowly being to learn that I’m really picky when it comes to rose in teas and tisanes it either works perfect or not at all there’s never a middle ground. The only downside to this blend for me is that the jasmine pearl green tea does almost overpower the white tea which is sad because I love white tea and I was looking forward to seeing how they worked together.

I tried this hot and because it is so floral it was so incredibly calming to drink and really did help me relax its going a very light mouthfeel too and isn’t drying at all. I was shocked that it didn’t dry mouth out too much as I often find that floral teas tend to do that to me especially teas with jasmine. I’m very glad that I decided to cold brew some of this as well because it shone in completely different ways iced than it did when it was steeped hot. Instead of the jasmine pearl green tea over powering the white tea they were perfectly balanced and paired beautifully with the rose (I did add a little honey to the cold brewed version as it just needed that little bit of a pick me up) – For me this blend was much better cold brewed than it was hot, that’s not to say that I didn’t enjoy it hot I was just able to pick so many more of its flavours out than I was when I steeped it normally it was just much more balanced. I’ll definitely be cold brewing what I have left of this (I’ll be so sad once it’s all gone)

Overall Teacup Rating: 4 ½ /5
