Hey there Teacups! It’s time again for another Let’s Talk Tea post, this time around it features MEM Tea’s deliciously refreshing Cocoa Mint tisane. I’m always incredibly nervous when it comes to trying chocolate inspired teas & tisanes because they are either amazing or horrible there really is no in-between. But the smell of this tisane really drew me in and rather than being nervous to try it I was actually really excited to try it.
Minty – Fresh – Strong – Refreshing – Chocolate
In the dry tea the mint notes were incredibly strong and kind of overpowered the cocoa notes. Don’t get me wrong they were still there but they just weren’t as strong as they probably should have been because mint can be such an over powering ingredient.
Tisane Tasting Notes
The chocolate notes were much stronger in the taste than they were in the aroma and the mint was much more muted and altogether it was very naturally sweet. I’m going to try making Vegan mint choc chip lattes with this because I think it would be phenomenal with some soya milk iced. Overall though taste wise it ended up being perfectly balanced and I’m so glad that the mint notes were lighter when it came to the taste, had they been as strong in the taste as they were in the aroma this would have been horrible to drink.
I tried this both hot and cold brew and I ended up enjoying the cold brewed one much more. I’ve never been a fan of mint teas hot (aside from a candy cane one that I love), so I was expecting that. When I steeped this hot it was incredibly drying in the mouth but that wasn’t the case at all with the cold brew it was smooth and refreshing. So, if I were to suggest the perfect way to prepare this I would cold brew it in half water – half soya milk, add a little sweetener, some ice cubes and blitz it to make an iced frappe.
Overall Teacup Rating: 5/5
MEM Tea’s very kindly sent me three teas and tisanes to try and I really think I started my journey with them off in the best way with this Cocoa Mint tisane. If the other two are anything like this one I really am in for a treat.
