Hey there Teacups! It’s time for another Let’s Talk Tea post, this time around it features Tea Spot’s Earl of Grey. The first Tea Spot blend I tried absolutely amazed me so it’s safe to say that I went into trying this with very high expectations. Not only because that first blend was so amazing but also because I’m a huge fan of Earl Grey and because I drink so much of it new versions of it that I try must be something special to stand out.
Dry LeavesFloral – Strong Citrus – Vanilla – Slight Underlying Malt – Honey
The aroma of the dry leaves of this tea is phenomenal the sweet citrus and vanilla notes were the stand out there was an underling malt note but it did have to almost fight its way through to be noticed. I could tell that this blend was going to be sweet just from its aroma not only was the citrus note rather sweet but there was a honey hint to it as well. Overall the aroma of the dry leaves made me so excited to try this blend I wish you could all smell it through the screen because you’d be ordering some of this tea even before you go to the end of this post.
Tea Tasting Notes
Very Sweet – Citrus – Slightly Floral – Malt – Vanilla – Honey
I will admit after seeing that this blend had liquorice root in it I was a little bit nervous when it came to trying it because normally it can make or break a blend for me but because the other ingredients in this blend are so strong and powerful you really couldn’t tell it was even in there and truthfully I’m quite happy about that. I think I would go as far to say that this is one of my favourite earl grey blends that I’ve had over the last few months. It’s very naturally sweet and I wouldn’t suggest adding any sweetener to it at all it would just become overly sweet and you would overpower everything else with sheer sweetness. It’s go a sparingly smooth mouthfeel which I wasn’t expecting at all as black teas (especially those with bergamot) are always really drying. Aside from the liquorice root this is a perfectly balanced blend and I’m so thankful I’ve had the chance to try it. I’ll no doubt end up ordering some more of this very soon because it literally took me two days to use all the sample I was sent. I used what was left of the of this at the end of the two days to make Earl Grey ice pops and they were so tasty and refreshing.
Overall Teacup Rating: 5/5
You can find out more about The Tea Spot and purchase this blend for yourself here and as always Teacups if you have any questions at all either stick them in the comments or send them to me on Twitter/Instagram and I’ll answer them as soon as I can.
Speak to you all on Sunday. Happy Steeping! – Kimberley
ICE POPS hi yes, a post on your favourite tea for ice pops please 😀
This sounds lovely – honestly seeing it had licorice in put me right off but you saying it doesn’t really come through is reassuring 🙂
