Let’s Talk Tea – Fox Tea Club – Forest Lake | Review

Hey there Teacups! It’s time again for another Let’s Talk Tea post, this time around it features Fox Tea Club’s Forest Lake black tea-based blend. You’ll all know from my past posts that I’m a huge fan of Fox Tea Club and their blends so of course I went into trying this one with quite high expectations. If you’re yet to read my past post featuring Fox Tea Club you can find them all here.

Dry Leaves

Smokey – Forest Fruits – Malt – Wood – Slight Sweetness – Currants

While this blend has a delicious aroma the Smokey notes did make me a little bit nervous. You’ll all know that I’m not a huge fan Smokey teas so when I smelt this I just hoped that the Smokey notes wouldn’t carry through into the taste as they would have been incredibly overpowering. Other than the Smokey notes in the aroma there is some subtle malt and fruity notes that I really wanted to be much more stronger in the taste because it would have resulted in such a well balanced blend. While the dry leaves had a questionable aroma for me that did make me a little bit nervous Fox Tea Club have blown me away with every single one of their blend that I’ve tired so I knew I was in for something special.

Tea Tasting Notes

Smokey – Fruity – Malty – Woody

Considering I’m not really a fan of Smokey teas I was really surprised that I liked this when I took my first sip. The dry leaves had a very strong Smokey note and truthfully  I was worried that it would be that strong in the taste, but it was at lot lighter and I couldn’t have been happier about that. Overall, it’s a well-balanced blend and even though the fruity notes are much more in the background that everything else and it shocked me that they weren’t overpowered by everything else this blend has going on. This is a perfect autumn blend as it really does transport you to the forest as you drink it. I almost cold brewed this because I’m not a fan of fruity black teas when they are steeped hot but I’m very glad I didn’t as I don’t think it would have been anywhere near as good cold brewed as it was hot.

Overall Teacup Rating: 4.5 / 5

You can find out more about Fox Tea Club and purchase this blend for yourself here. As always Teacups if you have any questions at all either stick them in the comments or send them to me on either Twitter/Instagram and I’ll answer them as soon as I can.
