Let’s Talk Tea – ICHAI – Classic Chai | Review

Hey there Teacups! It’s time again for another Let’s Talk Tea post, this time around I’m going to be reviewing ICHAI’S Classic Chai. I’ve really enjoyed pretty much ever single ICHAI chai that I’ve tried so of course I went into this one with some expectations and it’s safe to say it met them all this is probably one of the best chai’s I’ve tried in long time. Before you get into this review if you want to check out any of my past posts featuring ICHAI you can find them here.

This chai has such a beautiful aroma that my fiancé and I both love! It’s full of spice but also has an underlying malt note and a sweet kick that had me excited to try this from the moment I smelt it. This is one of the best smelling chai’s I’ve had in a good few weeks and recently it seems like I’m trying a new one each week so it definitely says something.

Tea Tasting Notes

I honestly can’t even put into words how great this classic chai is! It’s so perfectly balanced and naturally sweet and even though it has cloves in (I didn’t take them out this time I hope you’re all proud of me) I still loved it. It takes a lot of work to make sure that a chai is perfectly balanced and ICHAI are clearly putting so much hard work in in terms of balance this classic chai is spot on. The spices have all been blended perfectly and none of them overpower each other or the black tea. Cinnamon and cloves can often be too much for me as they must be blended perfectly to not feel like you’re being punched in the mouth by spices, but they are honestly all rather muted in this, which allows the black teas malty notes to shine through as well.

In terms of mouthfeel it is for the most part quite smooth but towards the back of my mouth it did start to get a little bit drying but not enough to stop me from enjoying it. With this blend being so naturally sweet there’s no astringency to it at all, for me this is sweet enough and doesn’t need any sweetener added to it, it would just overpower everything and take all the best aspects of this blend away. Hats off to ICHAI you are clearly putting so much care and attention into your blends and I can’t wait to try some more, if this one is anything to go by I am certainly in for a treat. This definitely won’t be the last post you see featuring ICHAI this year.

Overall Teacup Rating: 5/5
