Hey there Teacups! A few days ago, now I posted a How Do You Brew? Blending Experiment post and in that I mentioned my favourite in mug infuser from For Life that I was very kindly sent by the team at Mem Tea when they sent me a box of teas & tisanes to try out. It was unexpected and before it arrived I had never really used an in-mug infuser, so I didn’t know if I would get much use out of it but as per usual I was wrong (I know … none of you are surprised). Since I mentioned the infuser in that post I’ve had so many questions about it, so I thought it was about time it featured in my Teaware series (I honestly don’t know why it’s taken me to long to do a post on it).
The For-Life extra fine brew-in-mug infuser makes it so easy to brew tea in any standard size mug you own. I’ve always had problems with infusers not being fine enough and just letting bits of leaves and things like that into my drinks but because this one is so fine it catches absolutely everything even rooibos which would normally sneak right through any of my other infusers. If you want to brew a perfect cup every single time you make a cup of tea, then you must get yourself one of these it’s that simple honestly. The stainless-steel silicone lined (BPA Free) lid that comes with it not only helps to keep the tea hot while your leaves are steeping but if you flip it, it also holds your infuser to prevent over steeping which is probably one of my favourite aspects.
As you all know I drink an awful lot of chai lattes made on the stovetop and since this infuser arrived it has honestly been a god send for when it comes time to strain it and it enables me to do it straight into any cup and avoid any leaves falling in. All my other infusers are all to small to help when it come to doing that and I used to constantly have to pull leaves and spices out of my drinks but not anymore everything is so much easier now. Also, just in case you didn’t all know already I’m probably one of the clumsiest people in the world so the little handle this infuser had has literally stopped me from burning myself so many times.
Once thing I was a little bit worried about before I started using this is that thing would get stuck in the small holes and it would be so hard to clean but it is so easy to get clean by hand and if you don’t want to do it the old fashioned way like I do you need not worry because all of the part of completely dishwasher safe. To start off with I had a little bit of a problem getting soya milk through it without it clogging up but all you need to do when that happens a bottle brush and some bicarbonate of soda it will clear it right out. Since I’ve made the switch to Oatly barista I’ve not had that problem at all, so I think it’s just soya milk that seems to do it.
Even though my infuser was gifted I really do think that they are reasonable priced and even though this one is currently holding up fine and probably will do for a long time to come. I’ll be purchasing so many more of these for myself and my tea loving friends and family over the next few years. If you’re looking for an infuser like think I honestly can’t recommend it enough especially if you’re like me and drink a wide variety of teas and tisanes and need an infuser that can handle them all with no problems at all.
Overall Teaware Rating: 5/5
