Let’s Talk Teaware / Tea – The Tea Brewer – Earl Grey | Review

Hey there Teacups! When the Tea Brewer team got in touch with me and asked if I wanted to try a selection of their different tea brewers myself there was no way that I could have said no. Before they got in touch with me I had actually been following them on twitter for a while and was really intrigued by the work they were doing I simply hadn’t gotten round to order some for myself to try so I jumped at the chance to try them and feature them in a Let’s Talk Tea / Let’s Talk Teaware review post that would introduce you all to their unique and innovative product. The Tea Brewer offers the rich taste of super premium organic loose whole leaf tea brewed in a good old teapot with convenience of a teabag. All you need to do is add hot water. I’ve chosen to split this post into two mini reviews one of the Tea Brewer ”teaware” side of things and one of the tea itself to make sure I could cover everything.

The Tea Brewer

This took me a matter of second to set up for brewing and the fact that it stands on its own really helps when you’re pouring the water in. The compact size and light weight is one of my favourite things about this as I make quite a few train journeys through out the year and these are perfect for that kind of travel, I can also see them being really helpful for people who go camping/festivals a lot and as a person who can’t go on holiday without some form of tea I’ll definitely be taking these with me next time I fly anywhere that I know I won’t be able to get good tea.

I didn’t expect it to pour as smoothly as it did either (I’m the clumsiest person in the world and I managed not to spill a single drop out of this), I also really love that it holds more than one cups worth of tea at a time and once you have poured your first cup the tea is below the part where the tea is held so your tea doesn’t overstep. Overall, I think that this is a product that ever tea lover needs for their travels, at home or in the office it just makes everything so much easier.

Overall Teaware Rating: 5/5

The Tea

You all know I’m a huge Earl grey fan, so the blend used in this was going to have to be something special to get me to love it. Taste wise I really enjoyed this (not that I was expecting not to) but for me a few aspects of it could do with being just a little bit stronger. The bergamot notes ever a little lacking and for me it could have done with a little a little bit of lemon just to round everything off the black tea was the start in this but aside from a slight bergamot bottom note I didn’t get much else. They are on the right track with the blend they are using right now but it could just do with a little bit of tweaking.

37241375_1840626052661084_4764454779625668608_nI did end up adding a little bit of lemon to this and it helped to make the bergamot a little strong and rounded everything off perfect. While that was easy for me to do at home it wouldn’t be anywhere near as easy for me to do when traveling or camping and I had to think about that when deciding what my overall teacup rating was going to be. As I always say though tea is down to taste and my personal opinions shouldn’t be the only thing you go off when trying to decide if you want to try something. Something that may not be my cup of tea will be someone else’s. Out of this one bag alone I managed to make 6 FULL CUPS (3 steeps) of tea which is great and shows just how high quality the tea they are using really is.

Overall Teacup Rating: 4/5

If you want to find out more about The Tea Brewer and Purchase some for yourself you can do both here. As always Teacups if you have any questions at all either stick them in the comments or send them to me on Twitter/Instagram @teaisawishblog and I’ll answer them as soon as I can.
