Let’s Talk Tea | Eteaket – Mellow Yellow | Review

Hey there Teacups! I’m back today with another Let’s Talk Tea post this time around I’m going to be reviewing Eteaket’s – Mellow Yellow blend. Eteaket very kindly sent me a selection of their teas to try recently and from the moment I first smelt the aroma of this blend I knew it had to be the first one I reviewed.

Here’s what Eteaket have to say about this blend on their website: ”Summer is in full bloom… in your teacup, at least! Our Mellow Yellow tea will have you chilled out and recharged, with sprinklings of goji berries, mango, pineapple and hibiscus you can close your eyes and almost feel the sun on your face!”

The leaves of thus tea are quite large and various shades of green in colour all other added ingredients in the blend are of a decent size, vivid in colour and strong in aroma. Even from first glance they were all easily recognizable and you don’t get that with many blends these days it’s a rare thing to find. There Are only two other brands out that that I can think of that do the same. You can tell just from the way that this blend looks that it is of an excellent quality. The aroma of the blend is incredibly sweet and fruity, I was able to pick out orange peel, pineapple and mango As well as an ever so slight vegetal note and a vanilla like undertone.

For this tasting session I used my teapot and my T2 Glass Teacup | Because this is a yellow Tea I used 80-85oC water and steeped it for 3 mins.

Tea Tasting Notes

I completely understand why this blend is called mellow yellow because that’s exactly what it is. It’s liquor is a beautiful golden yellow colour and all of its notes while flavourful are mellow and soft and dance gingerly on your tounge. This is an incredibly well balanced blend and I’ll be honest I wasn’t expecting that when I smelt it as the fruit notes were much stronger than the two in the aroma do I was really supposed to find that the taste was much more well balanced. It’s naturally quite sweet and it doesn’t need any added sweetener at all honey would be far to heavy for it and would throw it of completely so I would advise against it.

Fruit wise I definitely picked out the orange peel first and then after that as the tea started to cool a little other fruits like the pineapple, mango and goji berries started to come through. This smells a lot like the fruit salad sweets I ate as a child and made me feel rather nostalgic. I tried this both hot and cold and while both were incredible I think I enjoyed the hot version much more. As I said before it is a very light blend but that lends itself to being a great fruity treat to have not only thought the day but into the night as well.

Overall Teacup Rating: 5/5
