Let’s Talk Tea | Elvin & Erwin’s – Figgy Pudding | Review

Hey there Teacups! I’m back today with another Let’s Talk Tea post and this time around I’m going to be reviewing Elvin & Erwin’s Figgy Pudding blend. This is a green tea based blend that is inspired by the traditional Christmas dessert. For those of you who have never had it  Figgy pudding is a type of Christmas pudding which was originally made with figs. It may be baked, steamed in the oven, boiled or fried. Figgy pudding dates back to 16th century England. It’s like traditional Christmas pudding but from what I know it’s a little less hard-hitting in flavour. I’m not a huge fan of Figgy Pudding or Christmas pudding but the blends that I have had that were inspired by it in the past have all actually been really nice and I’ve enjoyed them all so much.ad-square-600l.jpg

Dry Leaves

Ingredients: Green tea, blackberries, raspberries, strawberries, fig, peony petals (V)48366240_785682415119365_8208599954915065856_n.jpgThis blend has a delicious aroma its soft, sweet, vegetal and fruity and it’s honestly to die for. I can’t say it reminds me of Figgy pudding though as I think it’s much you light and doesn’t have that punch of brandy like Figgy pudding does. I’m actually really glad it doesn’t though as that’s what I don’t like about Figgy Pudding. So while it doesn’t quite live up to its namesake it still smells delicious and I  ended up having two cups full during my tasting session…

Tea Tasting Notes

To put into perspective just how much I enjoyed this blend normally when I do my tasting sessions I have one cup of tea but after finishing my first cup of this tea I enjoyed it so much that I simply had to make another. This blend is honestly beautiful, it’s vegetal, sweet fruity and incredibly well-balanced while it doesn’t scream Figgy pudding or Christmas for me it is still a tasty blend that I will no doubt have to order some more of as soon as I get the chance.  Sadly there wasn’t many fruity bits in the sample I was sent so I was worried that it was going to be very green tea / vegetal heavy and the fruity elements were going to take a backseat. But I was wrong and even with the small amount of fruit included in my sample this blend was pretty much perfectly balanced and naturally sweet enough that I didn’t need to add any honey which is always a bonus. 48364730_1951877564932542_168405027726032896_n.jpgI followed the steeping suggestions I was given and what I will say is that this blend does result in a rather light cup but anything stronger and it would be too much the overall strength is perfect for the type of blend this is. I reckon this would also be a great accompaniment to a light afternoon tea as it pairs perfectly with sweet treats and would be enjoyable for all ages.

Overall Teacup Rating: 5/5
