Let’s Talk Tea | Teamates Monthly Tea Subscription – Box 1 | Review

Hey there Teacups! I’m back today with another Let’s Talk Tea post and this time around I’m going to be review my first box from the Teamates Monthly Tea Subscription Box. I found out about Teamates through Instagram and I was so happy when they said they wanted to collaborate with me and send me a box to try out. It launched in march so this was the first box they sent out. Their boxes are focused on taking care of the mind, body and soul and all the teas and tisanes included are Ethically sourced vegan teas. Picked at peak season for the best taste.

Their boxes are £9.99 a month and have been curated with maximum health benefits in mind and zero compromise on taste. to make you feel refreshed and energised in the morning, boost your metabolism to stay lean or aid your weight loss journey, and relieve symptoms of anxiety or insomnia. Your first order with Teamates contains 6 free 100% biodegradable eco-friendly tea filters, so you can start enjoying your tea the day you get it – just in case you don’t have a tea infuser ready which I think is amazing  (I don’t use filters when I am at home but I love them for travelling so I’ll get so much use out of them).

Teamates currently offer 4 subscription offers The Teamates Subscription in which you get a tea for the mind, the body and the soul each month, The Mind Subscription in which you get all three teas for the mind, The Body Subscription in which you get all three teas for the body and The Soul Subscription in which you get all three teas for the Soul.

The Teas & Tisanes they offer for the mind are : Morning Mate Blend – , Sencha Green Tea and Lemon and Lime Green Tea

The Teas & Tisanes they offer for the body are: Tea Power Blend, Orange Blossom Oolong Tea and Wondrous White Tea

The Teas & Tisanes they offer for the soul are: Total Zen Blend, Camomile and Mint Tea and Panda’s Choice Tea

In the mixed subscription you can pick one tea from each section each month or you can use their surprise me feature for a chance to try them all over a few months. 53516225_810678969299092_3667098667086512128_n.jpg

I went for the body subscription but my choice was completely based on the teas that were in it, I knew when reading about them they would be the teas I would enjoy the most and they all just happened to fall under the body subscription you all know me enough by now to know that I drink tea because I enjoy how it tastes never for the supposed health benefits so while these are said to help your body feel great from the inside out alongside a healthy diet and exercise. Boost your metabolism, aid digestion and burn fat with these super teas to help keep you lean or aid your weight loss journey that is not the reason I chose them. My following review will be based only on how the teas taste and nothing else.

I didn’t need to add any sweetener to this as I found it to be perfectly balanced but I can see where people might want to add just a little bit of honey to it to sweeten that orange note a amplify it a little bit.

I prepared this hot and steeped it for around two and a half – three minutes. My favourite thing about this blend is how light and subtle it all is it’s an incredibly relaxing blend to drink. The oolong and white tea are soft and delicate but present and both provide a nice floral / slight vegetal note. As it started to cool the yerba mate give this blend a nice nutty / woody note in the aftertaste and the lemon is just strong enough and doesn’t overpower any of the more subtle notes. This is my favourite off all of the blends in this box and The one I would absolutely buy lots more of given the chance. I found this to be the best tea to drink just before bed as it really is incredibly relaxing.

Overall Teacup Rating: 5/5

I have no idea why it doesn’t do that when I have it iced but I’ll take it because I really do enjoy the way white tea tastes especially during spring and summer its the perfect companion to a lot of the lighter seasonal foods. it was a typical white tea with a fresh, pure, sweet, and floral profile and an ever so slight lemon note. This is the perfect white tea for summer and spring especially iced it’s so delicate and light but extremely refreshing. I just wish that lemon note would have been a little stronger so maybe I’ll add a lemon slice or two to this the next time I cold brew it.

Overall Teacup Rating: 4.9/5

The UK doesn’t have many good tea subscriptions so I was so excited to see be part of the Teamates launch and I hope they continue to thrive and stick around for a long time. As a tea lover I adore subscriptions but I’m yet to find the perfect one the teas in this one were fantastic but the overall subscription is a little to ”health benefit” focused for my liking and as someone who enjoyed tea for its taste and doesn’t really care too much of the health benefits it may have I feel like I’m not the right target audience for it. This subscription if one for the health conscious and the gym bunnies. I can appreciate the teas for what they are when they stand alone though and it’s clear that lots of though has been put into each and every blend available in all the different boxes.

If you want to find out more about Teamates and Subscribe this box or their other options you can do both here. As always if you have any questions at al either stick them in the comments or send them to me on Twitter/Instagram @teaisawishblog and I’ll answer them all as soon as I can.

Speak to you all again soon. Happy Steeping – Kimberley
