Hey there Teacups! Today is the very first day of Tea Together Tuesday. A new series / weekly prompt that Tea With Jann and I have started to help bring the tea community together to have tea and be creative, like a virtual tea party of sorts that absolute anyone can get involved with. If you want to find out more I posted an in depth post about it on Sunday that you can find here.
Today’s Prompt is: If you could only have one Tea / Tisane for the rest of your life what would be it? How would you drink it / use it? I thought answering that would be quite hard but honestly I was able to think of what tea I would choose really quickly! Instead of going with a type of tea I went super specific and picked what is my favourite blend I have ever tried. I would pick T2 Teas – Lamington blend and those of you who know me well will know exactly why. This tea is my absolute favourite because it combines three things I love, Black Tea, Coconut and Chocolate and of course it is absolutely delicious! For some reason I put off trying this blend for a while because I thought it was too good to be true and was going to disappoint me but I was definitely wrong.
The first time I ended up trying this was actually on a Fill Up Friday which is something T2 Tea do in their stores where you can take in your tea flask and they will fill it for free with any of the teas on their tea wall. They prepared it as a latte for me with soya milk and honey and from the moment I took my very first sip I loved this tea and its been a firm favourite ever since. I don’t think a week has gone by since where I haven’t drank at least one cup of this blend. You would think that by now I would be sick of it but I still love it and each time I have it I am reminded of why. It always makes me wish that I lived in Australia so I could try the cake that inspired this blend some thing tells me that I would absolutely love it. If you do live in Australia let me know in the comments if you love lamington and if you think this blend is accurate impression.of it
For those of you who aren’t familiar with T2 Teas Lamington here’s what they have to say about it over on their website: “Sweet chocolatey flavours play with hints of tropical coconut on a backdrop of sharp and full-bodied black tea. It’s the classic chocolate covered treat that you can sip!”
ingredients: Black tea, cocoa nibs, coconut flakes, chocolate drops (sugar, cocoa mass, cocoa butter, fat reduced cocoa powder, emulsifier: E322 sunflower), natural and artificial flavouring, coconut. This tea is delicious both on it’s own and as a latte, but having it as a latte is my preferred way to drink it with soya milk and a teaspoon of honey. Because the chocolate chips used in this are a little dark the sweetness the honey adds mellows them out a little bit and stops that bitter dark chocolate note from coming through in the aftertaste. The soya milk adds a nice creaminess which is only amplified by they coconut that in this. It really lends itself to being made into a latte and if you’re yet to try this blend that is how I recommend you first try it like it did. But, also make sure you try it on its own because its really well balanced as is, T2 did a really get job with this blend.
Aside from drinking this I also like to use it in baking. I haven’t made actual lamington cakes with it but i did make some shortbread with it a while back and not to toot my own horn or anything but It was absolutely delicious and something I need to make more often. I also think you could use this in so many other different bakes including macaroons, cakes, cookies and lots lots more because it has chocolate and coconut in it and its quite a naturally sweet blend it really works well in different sweet treats.
So there you have it, the one tea I would have for the rest of my life is T2 Teas Lamington blend. I’m so glad Jann and I have started this little series / weekly prompt because it will give me some new posts to write and pull me away from reviews, which I love doing but can something get a little bored writing when I do more than one in a day. I’m really looking forward to doing this each Tuesday for the rest of May and if this month goes well and we get lots of participation we’ll carry this one into the next few months as well.
As always if you have any questions at all either stick them in the comments or send them to me on Twitter / Instagram @teaisawishblog and I’ll answer them all as soon as I can. Make sure you go and check out Jann’s YouTube channel as she just put a video up with her answer to today prompt and as usual it’s amazing. If you want to buy the tea I mentioned in this post you can find it here.
Speak to you all again soon. Happy Steeping – Kimberley

I didn’t know about Lamington until I tried this blend and I’ve been unable to find anyone who sells or makes it here in the UK. You definitely need to give this blend a try at some point it’s absolutely delicious

This tea sounds amazing!! It reminds me of the Soho blend from Harney and Sons. I haven’t personally used teas in baking yet but I love a good earl grey flavored pastry, I might just have to try baking with a tea!
Also love the idea of weekly prompts, excited to see what you share next 🙂
