Hey there Teacups! Can you believe it’s time for another Tea Together Tuesday Post?! This is the fifth one now and I’m so glad that you’re all enjoying it so far. Jann & I have so much fun reading through everyone posts each Tuesday and seeing the tea community come together and interact with each other over multiple platforms never fails to make me smile. Today we start June;s prompts, all of which were ideas sent to us by fellow members of the tea community, we reached out to you all on our Instagram stories to ask you what prompts you would like to see and we were inundated with suggestions. The first of which was today prompts that was sent to us buy @teasbydani who has a fantastic tea YouTube channel that you should make sure you check out.
She actually sent us two prompt suggestions and because they were similar we combined them both together to make one prompt for this week and this is what we ended up with: ” A tea/tisane that brings you happy memories and make you smile” which we thought was a great way to start off June. With everything that is happening at the moment I think trying our best to focus on happier times is something that will help a lot of us.As soon as I saw this prompt I knew exactly which tea I was going to pick and that tea is T2 Tea’s – Black Violet blend. Which was part of a mothers day collection from either 2018 or 2019 and is a black tea based blend that smells and tastes exactly like Parmaviolets. The reason I chose this tea is because it reminds me of my mum because she loves Parmaviolets and has done for as long as I can remember and because of that I too have gained a love for them over time and every single time I see them I think of my mum and all of the amazing memories I have with her. So when T2 released this blend for their mothers day collection I knew I had to make sure I had it in my collection. My mum herself hasn’t been able to try it yet but I’ve put some aside for her to have in the future when lock down is lifted and I can visit her again. My mum used to have a perfume that was bright green and smelt just like Parmaviolets so when I smell this tea it makes me think of her wearing that perfume. I haven’t been able to find it anywhere for a while now but this tea smells just like it and as weird as it sounds, I just like opening up the box to smell it, especially now I live a train ride away from my mum and can’t see her in person a lot. We normally go and visit my family every other weekend but because of everything that going on in the world right now we haven’t been able to do that since February and I miss them all a lot. But especially my mum because shes always not only been my mum but my best friend since the say I was born and not being able to hug her regularly sucks a lot.
I’m just glad we have Face-Time so that I can still ring her and talk to her endlessly about the silliest of things. Even though shes in a lot of pain all of the time she always puts everyone else before herself and has supported me through everything in life and always knows exsaclty what to say to make me feel better and smile even when times aren’t great. Shes been through a lot and shes so incredibly strong, I hope in the future that I can be just as amazing of a mother as she is. I keep this in my collection and try not to drink it all the time because I love seeing it in my collection and being able to smell that comforting aroma before I even open the box. I know I should be enjoying it while it’s at it’s best but I don’t know if T2 will ever bring this back and I don’t want there to ever be a time when I don’t have this in my collection. I’ve had a few different blends that are supposed to taste like Parmaviolets but this one is by far the best and the closes taste wise to the actual sweets even though there is not actual violets in this blend. I assume its the flavouring in it that creates that note but its not artificial at all and doesn’t overpower any of the other ingredients in this blend.
Ingredients: Black Tea, Lemon Verbena, Mallow Petals, Natural + Artificial Flavourings, Rose Petals and Cornflower Petals. I’ve tried this blend in every single way since I purchased it and its delicious both hot and iced, but my favourite way to have this is as a hot with just small amount of honey added. It just works so well and the black tea gets to shine as well as the floral notes, which are strong enough that they stand strong but they are far from artificial or soapy. I’ve found this only really takes milk well when it’s iced; I’m not entirely sure why but if you are going to have this latte I really wouldn’t waste it on a hot one. Not too long ago I also baked with this blend and used it to make parmaviolet cupcakes, the tea was infused into the cakes and they they were topped with Parmaviolet / lemon curd buttercream. They are one of the best tea infused bakes I have ever done and I’ve just made my mouth water talking about them so I’m going to have to make sure I make them again soon.
I definitely couldn’t have thought of a tea more perfect than this for todays prompt and just writing this post has made me miss my mum so much more than I already did. I really can’t wait to see her again and just hug her. If you were to pick one tea that brings you happy memories and makes you smile what tea would you pick? Have you tried this blend from T2? let me know your opinions in the comments.
Speak to you all again soon. Happy Steeping – Kimberley
