Hot air rises, so the top of the oven is actually consistently hotter, while the bottom of the oven will heat in bursts to maintain the overall temperature. The bottom oven rack is great for crust breads and pizzas… baked goods that you want to intensely brown on the bottom.

Does top rack cook faster?

“The bottom drawer is for storing oven trays and other cooking utensils,” the manual says. “It can get very warm, don’t store anything in it, which may melt or catch fire.
When the oven is preheated, the air starts moving upwards making the top of the oven hotter. The heat at the bottom of the oven is turned OFF and the heat reaches the top of the oven making it hotter.
